Vihtavuori N170 is the slowest burning rifle powder in the N100 series, excluding 20N29 and 24N41, and is one of the slowest canister-grade powders available. All Vihtavuori rifle powders, including N170, feature cylindrical, single-perforated extruded grains. The grain size is relatively large, with a length of 1.7 mm and a diameter of 1.1 mm.
As a very slow burning reloading powder, N170 is ideal for very large capacity cases such as the .300 Weatherby Mag. and .300 Remington Ultra Mag., and it also performs well in most belted Magnum cartridges. This powder is popular among reloaders in shooting disciplines like long-range big-game hunting and target shooting.
