The history of PUMA began in 1769 when Johann Wilhelm Lauterjung registered his trademark in the Messermacherrolle. The tradition of the manufacturer extends even further back to a time when numerous grinding centers, known as Kotten, were situated along the Wupper River. These centers utilized natural sand and were powered by hydroelectric means.
