Description
The Blaser R8 is a modular system, similar to the Blaser R93, allowing for easy barrel switching. Within the same caliber family, no bolt head change is necessary. However, if switching outside the caliber group, the bolt head must be changed, which can be done quickly and easily.
The R8 barrels do not include a suitable magazine insert. The Semi Weight barrel, depending on caliber and contour, weighs approximately 300g (0.66lb) more than a standard barrel. This added weight provides stability when the rifle is mounted, increasing the likelihood of a successful shot. Extensive test shooting has shown that Semi Weight barrels consistently improve shooting performance.
Every Blaser R8 receiver accommodates all barrel contours, but the appropriate forearm is required for a proper fit. Using a forearm for a larger contour is possible if the user does not mind the extra gap between the barrel and forearm. However, a larger barrel contour will not fit in a standard professional stock or wooden forearm. Extra forearms are available for wooden guns but not for the professional, as it features a one-piece composite stock.
