Description
The Blaser R8 is a modular system, similar to the Blaser R93, allowing for seamless barrel switching. When changing calibers within the same family, no bolt head change is required. However, if switching outside the caliber group, the bolt head must be changed, which can be done quickly and easily. Note that R8 barrels do not include a suitable magazine insert.
The Match barrel is crafted for sport shooting and long-distance hunting. Depending on the caliber and contour, it weighs approximately 200-300g (0.44-0.66lb) more than a standard barrel. A fluted barrel comes standard, enhancing cooling efficiency during extended shooting sessions due to its increased surface area, while also reducing weight.
The original Blaser quality muzzle thread is precisely concentric on the barrel. All Blaser R8 receivers accommodate various barrel contours, though the proper forearm is necessary for a perfect fit. Using a forearm for a larger contour is possible if the user accepts the extra gap between the barrel and forearm. However, a larger barrel contour will not fit in a standard professional stock or wooden forearm. Extra forearms are available for wooden guns, but not for the professional, as it features a one-piece composite stock.
